Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is the best way to get in touch with Document Depot?
Email firstname.lastname@example.org or call us at 609-520-0094.
How can I send files?
Please email files to email@example.com. If the files are over 20mb, please go to our dropsend.com, login as firstname.lastname@example.org (password: service) and put the file into storage or send the file via your file transfer service.
What are your file requirements?
For best output we prefer PDF documents, with pages prepared individually (not spreads) with all fonts and graphics included, with images at 300dpi or greater and .125” bleeds on all sides. Now, let’s break this down, shall we?
What if we don’t have a PDF File?
Send us the file you have. We work with all sorts of programs, but we print from PDF, so we will likely convert your file to PDF, proof it back to you, and print from there. Additional charges may apply.
What software do you work with?
Microsoft Office, Publisher and PowerPoint. Adobe Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Acrobat. We will work with Google Docs, but we will complain about them.
What do you mean “pages only, not spreads”?
If we are doing a booklet or multipage document for you, please send us files organized as individual pages, and not spreads (meaning not 2 pages across). If you send us spreads, we will likely need to break them apart into single pages, which will cause an increase in charges for our time.
Fonts and graphics included?
When you prepare a pdf file, there may be an option to include fonts and graphics. Please choose that option.
What is a bleed?
If your file has printing going to the edge of the design, we call that a bleed. No printer can print on the edge of a piece of paper. We print on a larger sheet and cut extra away. For example, a design which is intended to print at 8.5" x 11" should be at least 8.75" x 11.25" with .125” on all sides to be cut away. We also recommend internal margins for text of at least .25” on most designs. Please click here for a visual explanation of how to make a business card bleed.
Do you have templates?
Yes. Please request templates by sending an email to email@example.com.
